Gunman in Cheyenne

I always miss the characters in my book. To me, they live in a parallel life, or perhaps a parallel past life, and exist somewhere, and I often wonder what they’re up to. So I’ve decided to find out.
If you’ve been missing them too, their stories will be ongoing and in short segments at a time, so check back regularly. I'll try to get back here, even for a few minutes each day.J  I’m going to have to think of a way to keep these in order. I might have to keep adding to this one blog.
Enjoy!

Mandy caught up with Kat just on the edge of Cheyenne. Reigning in her mare, hard, from a dead run, Mandy turned to glare at Kat. “What do you think you’re doing?” she said, chest heaving.
Kat turned her golden ‘cat-like’ gaze on her good friend. “I’m go’n after him,” she said. “What do you think I’m doing?”
Shaking her head, Mandy refrained from grabbing the little stallion’s lead and physically trying to stop her friend. She settled, instead, for setting her mare to an easy walk beside her friend. “You know that’s a bad idea,” she said.
“I knew you’d say that,” Kat shot at her, not bothering to look at her.
“Because you knew it’s a bad idea,” Mandy shot back at her.
Shaking her blond curls, Kat fairly snarled. “You’re so predictable,” she said. “Always telling me to wait for the men to handle things.”
Mandy barked out a laugh. “Do I let the men handle things?”
Kat compressed her lips together. “No, not really,” she admitted.
Raising a dark brow at her friend, she eyed her. “Only when it’s smart to include them,” she huffed. “And now would be a smart time to include them.”
Rolling her eyes, Kat reigned in. Following suit, Mandy turned her little mare to face her friend.
“So where are they?” Kat growled beneath her breath.
Mandy gave her friend a huge grin, earning herself another glare. “Well, as luck would have it, they should be right behind us.” She turned to survey the direction they’d come. “I sent Ned right after them when I heard.”
Kat pressed her lips together for a long moment. “Shouldn’t Ned getting the men out on the range to roundup the cattle?
Nodding, Mandy heaved a sigh of relief, seeing Hawk and Kid coming up hard. Grabbing her cowboy hat of her head, she waived it high over her head. Spotting her, they turned and headed in their direction, and Kat groaned.
Mandy grinned at her. “Now, at least we can get the drop on that scallywag,” she said.

Shaking her head, Kat frowned. “Or give ourselves completely away,” she said.
